Is Elon Musk the real founder of Tesla?

Musk is not the founder, rather."just a co- founder of Tesla. Wikipedia says " Tesla was founded in July 2003, by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, under the name Tesla Motors." My view is this controversy is much ado about nothing.
